Apprenticeship Program
The Apprenticeship Program at Carlisle Academy offers community members a valuable educational exchange which follows a service-learning model (formerly referred to as the volunteer program). The Academy’s therapy and adaptive programs thrive in part because of the dedication of people who offer their time and talents to help our therapy students reach their fullest potential. The primary role of an Apprentice is assisting students in the Adaptive & Therapy Programs as sidewalkers. Occasional help with facility, equine, and equipment upkeep is needed. The minimum age requirement of an Apprentice at Carlisle Academy is 14 years old. Each Apprentice must complete an application and release paperwork. The staff of Carlisle Academy will provide training for the position of an apprentice. Training dates will be offered throughout the year.

In return for an apprenticeship commitment of 2-3 hours, one day per week, throughout a program session (typically 7 weeks), apprentices are offered instructive and enriching benefits which include:

  • A monthly lecture series on various equine-related topics. These sessions will be held at Carlisle Academy.
  • Active apprentices will also receive a voucher for 15% off recreational riding lessons at Carlisle Academy.
